Samhain, traditionally known for its connection to the ancestors, divination, shadow work, and deep reflection, will be the guiding spirit of our days and nights together in the mystical mountain setting.

The Spirit of Samhain retreat will be held at the secluded and breathtaking Bend of Ivy Lodge, nestled in the stunning mountains of North Carolina. This beautiful, tranquil retreat center offers an idyllic setting for witches, nature lovers, and magical people to gather and connect with the spirit of Samhain and the energies of the season. With rolling hills, dense forests, and serene landscapes, Bend of Ivy Lodge provides the perfect environment for both introspective work and magical exploration during this sacred time of the year.
From the lodge’s peaceful outdoor spaces, you’ll be able to enjoy the majestic views of the surrounding mountains and take in the crisp autumn air as we celebrate the thinning of the veil between worlds. The venue’s meandering trails through the woods are ideal for meditative walks, guided rituals, and green witch foraging sessions, allowing you to connect deeply with the energies of the earth as it prepares to rest for winter.
A fire pit provides the ideal setting for evening rituals and gatherings. Imagine gazing into the flames or up at the stars, as we perform sacred ceremonies to honor the ancestors and commune with the spirit world. It’s also the perfect spot for connecting with fellow witches over a warm mug of cider or herbal tea. The spacious indoor Sanctuary Room at Bend of Ivy Lodge is designed with spiritual retreats in mind, offering ample space for group rituals, meditation, yoga, dancing, and circle work.
At the end of each magical day, you’ll find rest in the comfortable shared rooms, which are equipped with 2 twin beds. Or the cozy studio, which sleeps 3 and has a private bathroom and private porch sitting area. For those seeking more privacy, a private room offers just that with an inviting kind or single bed. There are 4 shared bathrooms in the main house.
Close-by airports are Ashville, Charlotte and Greenville-Spartanburg.
If you would like to share a room with someone specific, please mention this when booking. Otherwise, you will be matched with your new witchy roommates and friends, based on your answers in the survey.

This retreat is open to ALL practitioners (18+) and is meant to be a safe space for those who attend. Being respectful and open-minded towards all is a non-negotiable condition.
To join, a non-refundable deposit is needed to hold your space. Full payment must be received until 1st of May 2025.
Please note that there will be no refunds or discounts for arriving late, leaving early, flight cancellations, travel delays, or illness. If you cancel your participation in a retreat for any reason, the cancellation policy described here will apply, with no exceptions. If unforeseen circumstances occur (e.g. injury, illness, work issues, family emergency etc.), you’re welcome to find someone else to take your spot. If we have people on the waitlist, we’ll do our best to replace you and refund your money, but cannot promise this. In some cases, transferring your paid deposit to another witches’ cookery retreat might be possible.
If for some unexpected reason, The Witches’ Cookery cancels the retreat, we’ll refund you in full for all payments including deposits, but cannot compensate you for airfare or travel costs incurred. We do recommend purchasing Travel Insurance if that’s a worry.
